| Domaine de Montsalvy is located midway between the famous Dordogne and Lot rivers in the region known as the Bouriane (Les Midi-Pyrénées). The Bouriane itself is a gently rolling countryside of woods and small pasture fields, contrasting with the dramatic gorges of the Dordogne and Lot rivers. This peaceful situation offers complete tranquility for a relaxing holiday, yet you are only minutes from the plentiful tourist attractions of the area.
You can visit the many historic towns including Sarlat le Canéda where the ancient narrow streets burst with local produce on market day. Also experience the mediaeval pilgrimage town of Rocamadour , built literally hanging on to a cliff.
Enjoy fabulous canoeing on the Dordogne and Lot rivers winding through breathtaking valleys and be fascinated by the prehistoric limestone caves and sites with their underground waterways, cave paintings and tales of Neanderthal man.
The local gastronomy on offer at markets, farms, shops and restaurants is infinite. Outdoor reared succulent duck, wild boar, cassoulet, plump garlic, juicy yellow melons, fresh walnuts, the incredibly rich foie gras, numerous other handmade patés and cheeses accompanied by the regional wines of the Lot and the famous full-bodied Cahors reds.
Dutch owners Theo and Ellen Drummen-Nijssen and their children Julie, Wouter and Daan live at Domaine de Montsalvy and are able to recommend everything from supermarkets to restaurants.
